  Este traballo pretende analizar un dos sucesos máis destacados na loita antifranquista na zona da Mariña, no norte da provincia de Lugo. Trátase da morte do falanxista Juan Iglesias Rubal, máis coñecido polo alcume de “O Pinguelo”. Tradicionalmente, esta execución foi considerada como unha vinganza polas acción de Iglesias Rubal no occidente asturiano. Ora ben, a tese defendida polo autor é que a morte do Pinguelo debeuse a unha acción de guerrilleiros comunistas de Ourol-Viveiro, en represalia polas accións do falanxista nesta zona.

  This paper tries to analyze one of the most important events in the anti-Francoist struggle in the A Mariña area, in the north of the province of Lugo. It is the death of the member of Falange Juan Iglesias Rubal, best known for the nickname of the O Pinguelo. Traditionally, this execution was considered a revenge for the actions of Iglesias Rubal in the Asturian West.

  However, the thesis defended by the author is that the death of the Pinguelo was due to an action of communist guerrillas of Ourol-Viveiro, in retaliation for the actions of the Iglesias Rubal in this area
