    L'objectiu del present article és l'estudi de la Casa de Misericòrdia de la ciutat de Girona, una institució exclusivament femenina que va obrir portes l'any 1769. En primer lloc, es pretén fer un breu repàs del pensament assistencial del segle XVIII incidint en l'òptica de gènere, visió que permetrà entendre com s'hi integra l'establiment gironí. En segon lloc, descobrir els aspectes fundacionals de la institució. En tercer lloc, analitzar-ne l'organització tant des del punt de vista estructural, de les rendes i del personal, com funcional, tractant sobre l'aspecte del treball captiu. Finalment, s'aprofundirà en el perfil de les nenes i dones que hi ingressaven per tal de fer emergir pautes d'ús de la institució. El propòsit del treball, a més de l'interès que representa la institució per se, és mirar més enllà de l'obvietat del control i del càstig, per incidir en el rol social i econòmic, vist com una eina utilitzada per les mateixes dones amb la finalitat de maximitzar les seves oportunitats de futur.

    The aim of this article is the study of the Casa de Misericòrdia in the city of Girona, an exclusively female institution that opened its doors in 1769. First of all, the aim is to make a brief review of the care thought of the eighteenth century. focusing on gender perspectives, a vision that will allow us to understand how the Girona establishment is integrated. Second, discover the foundational aspects of the institution. Third, to analyze its organization both from a structural, income and personnel point of view, as well as a functional one, dealing with the aspect of captive labor. Finally, it will delve into the profile of the girls and women who entered it in order to emerge guidelines for the use of the institution. The purpose of the work, in addition to the interest that the institution represents in itself, is to look beyond the obviousness of control and punishment, to affect the social and economic role, seen as a tool used by women themselves. in order to maximize your future opportunities.
