En el siglo XIX y al principio del siglo XX en Serbia, la educación era generalmente para hombres y era poco común que las niñas fueran enviadas a la escuela. Las mujeres inteligentes y de familias adineradas estaban obligadas a buscar formas alternativas de educarse a sí mismas. El objetivo de este artículo es arrojar luz sobre la educación de las mujeres serbias en ese momento. Repasando brevemente las vidas de dos mujeres serbias bien educadas, Mileva Marić-Einstein (física) y Draga Ljočić (cirujano, oftalmólogo, ginecólogo) nos permitirán comprender las posibilidades educativas de las mujeres de su tiempo en Serbia.
In the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century Serbia, education was generally for men and it was uncommon for female children to be sent to school. Intelligent and well-off women were obligated to find alternative ways for educating themselves. The aim of this paper is to shed light on the education of Serbian women at the time. Recapping briefly on the lives of two welleducated Serbian women, Mileva Marić-Einstein (physicist) and Draga Ljočić (surgeon, ophthalmologist, gynecologist) will enable us to understand the educational possibilities women of the time had in Serbia.
