    Este artículo aborda las discrepancias estéticas y discursivas entre las dos adaptaciones cinematográficas del personaje de ciencia ficción británico Juez Dredd; en concreto, las cintas Judge Dredd (1995) y Dredd (2012). Después de examinar las características fundamentales del protagonista, se sostiene que el primer filme evade elementos constitutivos del personaje original, principalmente su antiheroísmo y totalitarismo; creando, por consiguiente, una representación imprecisa. Dicha representación, sin embargo, sufre una reingeniería en el segundo texto, validando las temáticas de la gubernamentalidad y la distopía.

    This article addresses the aesthetic and discursive discrepancies between the two film adaptations of the British science fiction character Judge Dredd; specifically, the films Judge Dredd (1995) and Dredd (2012). After examining the fundamental characteristics of the protagonist, it is argued that the first film avoids constitutive elements of the original character, mainly his antiheroism and totalitarianism; creating, as a result, an inaccurate representation. This representation, nonetheless, undergoes a reengineering in the second text, validating themes of governmentality and dystopia.
