    • Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, thousands of Venezuelans from different backgrounds, cities, and professions, have migrated from their country for political and personal reasons, sometimes forced for long periods of time into makeshift camps or in transitory locations before they can arrive at their destina-tions. Among these migrants are writers who have turned to new platforms and spaces to speak out about the stark reality they have left behind in their home country, thus making Venezuelan literature visible and accessible to an interna-tional audience that otherwise does not know how to make sense of the violence, hunger, protests, and the power vacuum left by a failed revolution. In this essay, I explore how two crime novels by writer, independent researcher, and educa-tor Raquel Rivas Rojas, are written from a plurality of voices that, ultimately, denotes a way of resisting and counteracting the unifying political discourse in Venezuela. The novels also deviate from the traditional crime fiction novel by privileging female protagonists and employing a variety of narrative techniques that offer different points of view of the same event and thus, of the perceived truth about the crime and its perpetrator
