The presence of books and libraries on Instagram is anything but marginal, notwithstanding the fact that this social network primarily focuses on visual communication. For this very reason, it is important to analyze the ways in which these particular objects and places are represented and also to consider the peculiar characteristics of this platform. Particular emphasis is given to Instagram stories, which are extremely popular among the younger audiences and have the potential to create structured narratives. Finally, some examples of the use of Instagram by libraries are presented, underlining how this social network can and should be used to integrate them more effectively with their communities.
