En el artículo se realizó un estudio de caso sobre la motivación que originó que el artista Jorge Alejandro Pérez Mendoza decidiera crear una obra de arte público dentro de los espacios urbanos de Ciudad Juárez. Asimismo, se expone el proceso de elaboración del Monumento Ser Fronterizo, el cual tuvo una duración de cinco años para que concluyeran las actividades de construcción de la pieza y la plaza que la alberga. Además, se analiza la relación que posee el contexto de la urbe fronteriza con los diferentes significados y las temáticas que están representadas en la estructura física de la obra escultórica.

The article carried out a case study on the motivation that led the artist Jorge Alejandro Pérez Mendoza to decide to create a public work of art within the urban spaces of Ciudad Juárez. Likewise, the process of elaboration of the Monument to the Border is exposed, which lasted five years to complete the construction activities of the piece and the plaza that houses it. In addition, the relationship that the context of the border city has with the different meanings and themes that are represented in the physical structure of the sculptural work is analysed.
