    Uno de los instrumentos utilizados por los monarcas castellanos para hacer frente a necesidades extraordinarias fue el crédito. Una de las formas en que se manifestó fue el empréstito o préstamo forzoso demandado a los súbditos, sobre el que los trabajos son todavía escasos. En este se analiza el demandado por Juan II en 1429 al concejo de Sevilla, cuya recaudación fue muy conflictiva por los rechazos a los distintos repartimientos que efectuaron tanto la hacienda real como las autoridades municipales.

    Credit was one of the instruments used in the late Middle Ages by the Castilian monarchs to cope with extraordinary needs. One of the ways in which it manifested itself was the “empréstito” (forced loan) demanded of the subjects, on which the related papers are still scarce. This paper discusses the credit that John II required to the council of Seville in 1429, whose collection was very con-troversial due to the rejections of the different distributions made by both the royal treasury and the municipal authorities
