    Muy conocidas por el público estadounidense pero menospreciadas por la crítica, las películas de wéstern que John Wayne protagonizó entre La gran jornada (1930) y La diligencia (1939) tuvieron una extraordinaria importancia para el mantenimiento de su carrera y la forja de su imagen. Se analizan las primeras ocho películas rodadas para la productora Lone Star, en las que trabajaron también el actor secundario George Hayes y el especialista Yakima Canutt, que también desarrollaron importantes carreras en sus respectivos ámbitos.

    Well-known by the American audience but underrated by the critics, westerns starring John Wayne between The Big Trail (1930) and Stagecoach (1939) were extraordinarily important for the maintenance of his career and the shaping of his image. The first eight movies shot for Lone Star are analysed, in which the secondary actor George Hayes and the specialist Yakima Canutt, both of who also developed important careers in their respective fields, worked as well.
