  • Resumen
    • As the on-site foodservice segment continues to grow and the demand for qualified managers gets stronger, it becomes imperative for organizations within this segment to recruit graduates from hospitality programs. The purpose of this study was to enhance students' awareness of the on-site foodservice industry as a career choice.

Over 1,400 students from 19 colleges and universities participated in this study. The results indicated that students perceive the job characteristics of this segment of the foodservice industry to be the same or better as other hospitality careers. However, results indicate that the image and prestige of on-site foodservice is consistently viewed as worse than other segments of the hospitality industry. Recommendations for attracting students to this segment of the industry are provided.
