    A partir de um trabalho de revisão bibliográfica, o artigo analisa o cinema queer contemporâneo, identificando características recorrentes em produções protagonizadas e/ou realizadas por sujeitos LGBTQIA+ na última década. O ponto de partida são autores que, inspirados pelo trabalho da crítica norte-americana B. Ruby Rich ao caracterizar o Novo Cinema Queer nos anos 1990, propõem-se a identificar quais aspectos políticos e estéticos se destacam na filmografia queer atual – e de que maneira eles refletem o presente momento da população LGBTQIA+. No diálogo entre as teorias investigadas, percebe-se como, por meio da reincidência da abordagem realista e de narrativas de frustração romântica, filmes como Weekend e Fim de Século refletem sobre homonormatividade, privilégio e modos de existência queer hoje. Ao destacarem esses paralelos e características em comum, os autores revelam como a produção contemporânea reforma referências do Novo Cinema Queer – e qual conceito de cinema queer ela elabora ao fazer isso.

    Based on a work of literature review, this paper investigates the main recurring aspects of contemporary queer cinema, specifically features starring and/or directed by LGBTQIA+ persons in the last decade. The starting point is a number of authors who, inspired by B. Ruby Rich’s work in characterizing the New Queer Cinema movement in the 1990s, set out to identify which political and aesthetic aspects stand out in the current queer filmography – and how they reflect the LGBTQIA+ community’s present moment. Once their theories are put in dialog, it becomes clear how, through the recurrence of a realistic approach to narratives of romantic frustration, movies like Weekend and End of the Century reflect upon homonormativity, privilege, and modes of existence in the current queer experience. By highlighting these parallels, these authors show how contemporary films reform New Queer Cinema’s references – and which concept of queer cinema they elaborate on the screen.
