Miguel Jiménez de Cisneros y Goicoechea (Alicante, 1910-1980) was the youngest son of Daniel Jiménez de Cisneros. He felt deeply tied to his father-, as he had helped him since his youth with his teaching and scientific work, which is why, in his will, his father named him the only heir of his scientific collection and his library. He assumed the legacy as a sacred responsibility. He resumed the work that his father had begun, revising the scientific collection, which was out of order because of the Spanish Civil War, and putting it in order. He checked the inventory and wrote it out neatly, and made lists of the works and publications made by his father, and also of the specimens of the collection. He maintained his father's suscriptions to scientific magazines.
He also maintained the bonds with scientific institutions and associations to which his father had belonged, and the personal relationship with colleagues and friends of his father's. He continued with his father's divulgative activity giving lectures and publishing notes and articles both in scientific bulletins and in non-specialized press. He took care of his father's library, papers and personal objects. He had his father's articles and writings bound, so that they could be better ordered and preserved, and had some interesting photographic sheets developed. He took many steps to maintain his father's figure and work alive, especially in 1963, centenary of his father's birth. At his request, the Town Hall of Alicante dedicated a street to his father in the district known as "El Plá" (Catedrático Daniel Jiménez de Cisneros Street). Thanks to his dedication, generosity and determination, the scientific work of Daniel Jiménez de Cisneros is still alive and still arouses the interest of scholars, which is something he always wanted. For all that he deserves a tribute, at least these lines in his memory.
