  • Resumen
    • The present paper shows the results of the stratigraphic and structural revision of the sierras of Orihuela and Callosa (Alicante province, SE Spain), belonging to the Alpujarride Complex of the Internal Betic Zone. New data afforded prove that both sierras must be attributed to a single tectono-stratigraphic unit for which the name Orihuela-Callosa Unit is proposed. Two stratigraphic formations with four members for this unit are defined, all of them lower to middle Triassic in age; from bottom to top we distinguish: the Detritic formation, composed of just one member called slates and quartzites member. The carbonade formation made of the calcareous-dolomitic member, limestones and marls member and finally the upper calcareous member. Regarding the geodynamic evolution three deformadonal cycles have been recognized: a first sin-metamorphic cycle developing the main foliation, a second extensional tardi-metamorphic cycle and a final compresive cycle.
