The revision of the Early Jurassic brachiopods of the Daniel Jiménez de Cisneros colletion have allowed us to analyze several stratigraphic sections in the Eastern Subbetic of the Betic Range.
The new samples collected in the Cerro de la Cruz outcrop, in La Romana (Alicante), shows us the importance of this section. A fundamental part of the Jiménez de Cisneros collection comes from Cerro de la Cruz section (Ex situ or unknown levels). This new material, collected in situ, has remarkably increased the previous diversity of genus and species, has allowed to make taxonomic precisions and paleoecologic and bioestratigraphic analyses of the registered associations, because we can place brachiopods of the Jiménez de Cisneros collection in their original levels.
