Resumen de The Sounds Around Us

Amedo Gaggiolo, Federico Balbi, Silvia Dini

  • This article illustrates the results of research carried out at the Institute for Educational Technology at the Italian National Research Council in Genoa. Starting from the analysis of the targets of musical education in compulsory school, the Authors evaluate the possibilities offered by computers in teaching this subject and finally illustrate ‘The sounds around us’, the first educational unit of the ‘Musical Box’ project, a fully computerized courseware for musical education. This teaching unit deals with the surrounding sound reality; it comprises a teacher's guide and two different programmes developed by the Authors on an Apple Macintosh personal computer: ‘sound postcards’, devoted to listening experiences on environmental sounds and ‘the sound minute’, for the production of sound simulations.
