    The Roman colony of Castrum Novum. The French-Italian project born in 2010 is dedicated to the study of the Roman colony of Castrum Novum. In 2010, the archeological research focused on the remains of a balneum and a building identified hypothetically as a domus, which underwent several modifications through the centuries; the archaeological material discovered inside its portico testifies activities linked to the fish trade. The study of a stratigraphic section, 250 m long, made it possible to study the remains of the south part of the Roman town and protohistoric settlement. Since 2015, the excavations realized inside the mid-repubblican castrum, on the low hill situated at km 64.400 of the via Aurelia, near the locality of Capo Linaro (Santa Marinella), brought to the discovery of private buildings and a theatriform monument.

    Le projet franco-italien est né en 2010 pour étudier les vestiges de la colonie romaine de Castrum Novum. En 2010, les recherches se sont concentrées sur les vestiges d’un balneum et d’un édifice identifié comme une probable domus, qui a fait l’objet de plusieurs modifications au cours des siècles ; l’étude du mobilier découvert à l’intérieur de son portique indique le déroulement d’activités liées au commerce du poisson. La réalisation d’une coupe stratigraphique de plus de 250 m de longueur, située au niveau de la falaise littorale, a permis par ailleurs de documenter les vestiges de la partie méridionale de la ville romaine et les restes d’un établissement protohistorique. À partir de 2015, les fouilles se sont déroulées à l’intérieur du castrum médio-républicain, sur la colline jouxtant le cap Linaro (Santa Marinella), au km 64,400 de la via Aurelia ; elles ont permis de mettre au jour une partie de l’habitat, ainsi qu’un édifice théâtriforme.
