Las Fuerzas Armadas rumanas fueron creadas en el año 1859, en el contexto de formación del país y su independencia; participando posteriormente en las dos Guerras Mundiales con el resultado de ser un país integrante del Pacto de Varsovia, tras su fundación en 1955, obligándoles a adoptar el modelo soviético.
A partir del año 1989, tras la revolución y el ingreso en la OTAN en 2004, su papel en el nuevo escenario geoestratégico, ha transformado las mismas en cuanto a efectivos, estructuras y participaciones, sin ser ajenas a la crisis económica.

The Romanian armed forces were created in 1859, within the context of the formation of the country and its independence; subsequently participating in the two world wars with the result of becoming a member of the Warsaw Pact, after its foundation in 1955, forcing them to adopt the Soviet model. Since then in 1989, after the revolution, and the entry into NATO in 2004, their role in the new geo-strategic scenario has transformed the regarding personnel, structures and participation, without remaining aloof from the economic crisis.
