Resumen de Intercultural conflict. An experience-based approach to implementing inclusion paths for migrants within local communities

En este artículo describimos un posible enfoque para abordar los conflictos interculturales en diferentes campos. En la primera parte describimos las hipótesis metacognitivas que sustentan este enfoque. La primera hipótesis ve el conflicto como una oportunidad de conocimiento y aprendizaje en una situación, cuando no se reduce al mero enfrentamiento. La otra hipótesis presentada se refiere al valor y la oportunidad de pensar en términos de inclusión y parcialidad cuando se aborda la dimensión intercultural del conflicto en contextos sociales complejos. En la segunda parte, a través del análisis de casos de conflicto ocurridos en un servicio de acogida de solicitantes de asilo y refugiados en una ciudad del norte de Italia, describimos las tres competencias necesarias para atravesar el conflicto intercultural, es decir, el esclarecimiento, la contextualización, la negociación.

The following article outlines a possible approach in addressing intercultural conflicts in different fields. The first part describes the metacognitive hypotheses supporting this approach. The first hypothesis views conflict as an opportunity for knowledge and learning in a given situation, when not reduced to mere confrontation. The second hypothesis concerns the value and opportunity of thinking in terms of inclusion and partiality when dealing with the intercultural dimension of conflicts in complex social situations. The second part focuses on actual conflicts which occurred in a reception service for asylum seekers and refugees in a town in Northern Italy. What arises from such analysis are three skills that represent necessary tools when facing intercultural conflict: explanation, contextualization, and negotiation.
