In this work, we review and discuss the systematization of spoken academic genres in Spanish at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Mendoza, Argentina). The focus is on conceptualization of lecture as prototypical event in academic world. In our university community, speakers recognize at least the following lecture types: clase de asignatura, clase inaugural de ciclo lectivo, clase de adscripción a cátedra, clase de oposición. From a socio-cognitive approach, we propose to evaluate the performance of external criteria in order to conceptualize diffuse categories of lecture genre continuum in EspaDA-UNCuyo Corpus. The findings suggest that it is possible to achieve a spoken academic genres systematization from both diffuse and discrete categorizations, based on communicative purposes and external criteria configurations respectively.
