El autor sostiene que, lejos de representar únicamente una forma de entretenimiento, el folklore permite conocer la historia de un pueblo a través de los que han pasado desapercibidos en los libros de historia, los más humildes de la sociedad. En Canarias, el elemento cristiano es fundamental para entender numerosas costumbres del archipiélago, y resulta llamativo cómo el pueblo encontró, gracias a los cantos populares, la manera de acercarse a Jesucristo y mostrarle sus necesidades o su gratitud. En las fiestas, procesiones y diferentes actos en honor a los santos y a laVirgen, encontramos expresiones variadas de la fe que el pueblo expresa y siente.

The author states that,far from representing just a form of entertainment,folklore allows to know the history of a people through those who have gone unnoticed in history books, the most humble in society.In the Canary Islands, the Christian element is essential to understand many customs of the archipelago, and it is striking how, thanks to popular songs, the people found a way to approach Jesus Christ and show him their needs or gratitude. In the festivals, processions and different acts in honor of the saints and the Virgin, we find varied expressions of the faith that the people express and feel.
