El objetivo del artículo es estudiar las transformaciones del sistema universitario argentino entre 1983 y 2015. Se analiza el crecimiento del número de estudiantes, la creación de nuevas instituciones y su efecto en la tasa de graduación. Se estudia además el papel de los fac-tores institucionales y políticas para explicar la evolución y dinámica del sistema.

The objective of the article is to study the transformations of the Argen-tine university system between 1983 and 2015. The growth of the num-ber of students, the creation of new institutions and their effect on the graduation rate is analyzed. The role of institutional and political fac-tors to explain the evolution and dynamics of the system is also studied
