    A las puertas del nuevo milenio, Juan Pablo II recordaba que con el Concilio Vaticano II, había llegado verdaderamente la hora del laicado a la Iglesia, y numerosos fieles laicos habían comprendido más claramente su vocación cristiana como llamada al apostolado. El autor se pregunta si de verdad los laicos han recogido el testigo que la Iglesia está ofreciendo, si han tomado conciencia de lo que significa ser bautizado y las exigencias que se derivan para con el mundo y con la Iglesia. Analiza asimismo en qué medida se complementan las enseñanzas de Juan Pablo II y Francisco para entender mejor al laicado en la Iglesia y en el mundo, hoy

    At the dawn of the new millennium, John Paul II recalled that with the Second Vatican Council, the time for the laity had truly come to the Church, and numerous lay faithful had more clearly understood their Christian vocation as a call to the apostolate. The author wonders if the laity have really taken the baton that the Church is offering, wether they have become aware of what it means to be baptized and the demands that are derived for the world and the Church. He also analyzes the extent to which the teachings of John Paul II and Francis are complemented to better understand the laity in the Church and in the world today
