Resumen de The Impact of Computer Technology on a Canadian Community College:: A Case Study
This paper describes the individualized, competency‐based learning philosophy at Holland College, Canada and the impact of computer technology on various college functions. The greatest impact was on general administration, programme development, and in the introduction of new computer‐related programmes. Computers have impacted somewhat less on already existing programmes, and are used as just another learning resource. Several trial projects which use this technology are described including library database equipment, computer managed staff development, PLATO applications, and an electronic classroom. So far computers have had relatively little effect on the college's learning philosophy. In the future, this is unlikely to change except that computers will make the operation of the system more automated.
