Video used in training is more than just entertainment and filling in time slots. It helps to overcome problems in training. This paper presents an example of how video has helped the Kowloon‐Canton Railway Corporation in Hong Kong to resolve problems in training operative and technical staff. A description of one specific subject on railway knowledge is presented, with reports of its evaluation in terms of staff opinions and comparison of staff attainment in the acquisition of operations knowledge, by station‐based and classroom‐based training, and by staff of different levels respectively.
