Resumen de Genealogía masculina de la profesión enfermera (II): etapa técnica y etapa profesional

La Enfermería es considerada tradicionalmente una disciplina femenina, quedando ligados los cuidados de la persona necesitada a la mujer. Sin embar-go, desde el principio de la humanidad también existieron figuras de cuidado masculinas que han ido evolucionando y cambiando en el devenir del tiempo. En este artículo continuamos describiendo y analizando al varón cuidador siguiendo su evolu-ción a lo largo de la Historia: revisando y resumien-do de forma crítica la literatura existente, utilizando como hilo conductor el Modelo de las Cuatro Etapas del Cuidado propuesto por Marie-Françoise Collière (1993). El análisis tiene en cuenta las características socioculturales de cada época, su concepción de Salud, así como sus repercusiones y particulari-dades, realizando una recopilación histórica de la actividad cuidadora desempeñada por el hombre. Desde los orígenes de la profesión misma hasta nuestros días, y comenzando con una perspectiva global para terminar focalizando en España, se recrea un minucioso recorrido histórico por los distintos cuidadores que con el tiempo constituirán los actuales enfermeros. En esta segunda entrega se analizará al practicante y al Ayudante Técnico Sanitario español (ATS) en la Etapa Técnica; y final-mente, el Diplomado Universitario en Enfermería (DUE) y el Graduado Universitario en Enfermería de la actual Etapa Profesional. Todos ellos tienen un rasgo en común: el Cuidado, actividad que perma-nece constante a través de los tiempos.

Nursing is traditionally considered a feminine discipline, and the care of the person in need is linked to the women. However, since the beginning of humanity there have also been male figures of care that have evolved and changed from ancient times. In this article we continue to describe and analyze the male caregiver, following his evolution throughout History: reviewing and summarizing critically the existing literature, using as a common thread the Model of the Four Stages of Care proposed by Marie-Françoise Collière (1993). The analysis takes into account the socio-cultural characteristics of each period, its conception of Health, as well as its implications and particularities, making a histo-rical compilation of the care-giving activity carried out by men. From the origins of the profession to the present day, starting with a global perspective and ending with a focus on Spain, a meticulous journey through the history of the different male caregivers who will eventually become the current male nurses is recreated. In this second issue, we will analyse the practitioner and the Spanish Ayudante Técnico Sanitario (ATS) in the Technical Stage; and finally, the Diplomado Universitario en Enfermería (DUE) and the University Graduate in Nursing of the cu-rrent Professional Stage. All of them have a common trait: the Care, an activity that remains constant throughout the ages.
