As part of the process of course evaluation, a group of adult learners studying on a two‐year, part‐time Certificate in Education (CNAA) coune were given the opportunity to identify the problems they experienced which were a direct result of attendance of the course. The student group chose an approach which identified pressures caused by the course, the coping strategies they developed to help relieve the pressures, and support agents who had helped them. A review of the findings suggests a number of measures which might help some of the special needs of adult learners.
