  • Resumen
    • There is currently a great interest in open learning. Although not all open learners will study at home, certainly a great percentage will do so. For this percentage particularly, isolation from a tutorial organization and from fellow learners could be a significant barrier to effective learning. To some extent the barrier can be removed if home learners are provided not only with help in the acquisition of study skills as tools to bring about effective learning, but also with the knowledge of how to use the tools. This paper looks at the skills required by home learners and considers how educational technologists can help the learners to acquire the skills which will make their learning more effective.
