    This essay, following a synthesis of previous research, analyses a series of lyrics by Margherita Costa, a Seventeenth-century courtesan, singer and writer from Rome. These lyrics deal with the theme of feminism in various situations: the difficulty of achieving success as a female writer, maternal love, the expediency of being born as a male rather than as a female, the necessity of equality in the relationship between genders which takes on the form of an armed challenge in the figure of the Amazon that concludes the overview

    Il saggio, dopo una sintesi dello stato degli studi, analizza una serie di liriche di Margherita Costa cortigiana, cantante, scrittrice romana del XVII secolo, che trattano il tema del femminismo declinato in varie situazioni: difficoltà di affermarsi come scrittrice, amore materno, opportunità di nascere maschio piuttosto che femmina, necessità di un confronto paritario nel rapporto dei sessi, che assume l’aspetto di una sfida con le armi nella figura dell’amazzone che chiude la rassegna.
