Resumen de Development of Audiovisual Aids in the Language Centre, Kuwait University
The AV Department in the language Centre at Kuwait University provides teaching aids to all departments of the University. The department started its activities in 1974 with a small language laboratory and a modest collection of films, transparencies and slides. It is more concerned now with selecting media suitable for Arab culture and traditions so that they may follow teacher‐made programmes. The department now produces posters, mock‐ups, and sound recordings. The staff help the teachers select suitable media through the printed guide of AV aids available. The reprography and duplicating section provides teachers with pictures and copies of sketches that are used in language explanation and practice. Plans this year call for establishing a photography darkroom and installing a new 25‐position language laboratory.
