  • A high resolution map of the sedimentary distribution of the sea floor of the Rías Baixas of Calidaand adjacent continental shelf has been performed. The use of high resolution acoustic techniquescombined with the sedimentological analysis of sediment samples appears to be a very useful procedure to improve the quality of the results. Changes in sea bottom reflectivity have been used toestablish the limits of the grain size sediment fields. Rocky outcrops location as well as bottom sedimentary structures distribution has also been mapped. A detailed slope distribution map has beenutilized to differentiate four sectors in the study area.
