  Resumen El presente artículo pretende abordar uno de los aspectos mayormente discutidos en la historiografía constitucional chilena, a saber, la naturaleza o inspiración de la Constitución de 1833, en cuanto al régimen político pretendido por parte de sus redactores, y la presencia de elementos que puedan justificar una lectura autoritaria o liberal sobre el texto en cuestión.

  Abstract This article aims to address one of the aspects most discussed in Chilean constitutional historiography, namely, the nature or inspiration of the 1833 Constitution, regarding the political regime intended by its redactors, and the presence of elements that can justify an authoritative or liberal reading on the text in question.
