Porto Dark: Uma proposta de itinerário turístico

    O Porto é uma cidade detentora de um vasto e rico património cultural representativo do seu longo passado histórico que, para além de lhe conferir identidade, consubstancia um amplo conjunto de oportunidades que têm potenciado o desenvolvimento da atividade turística através de uma oferta diferenciadora, o que tem suscitando um aumento substancial da sua visitação. O património associado ao dark constitui um dos componentes da sua ampla herança cultural que se encontra subaproveitado, mormente no que diz respeito à sua configuração enquanto parte efetiva da oferta turística.

    A partir da revisão da literatura científica e da consulta e análise de diversas fontes, este texto pretende enfatizar a estreita relação entre património, cidade e turismo e o papel dos itinerários na sua materialização e valorização. É conferida particular atenção ao segmento do dark tourism numa reflexão sobre o conceito, o espetro da oferta e a particularidade motivacional da procura. Dá-se conta da existência do património dark presente na cidade do Porto, assim como se proporciona um outro olhar sobre determinados elementos patrimoniais, fazendo sobressair a sua faceta dark, algo desconhecida do público em geral, com o objetivo de organizar um itinerário com base neste património e nas “estórias” a ele associado, apresentando-o como contributo para valorização do património sobejamente conhecido, mas sob uma perspetiva diferente.

    Porto is a city with a vast and rich cultural heritage representative of its long historical past, which gives it an identity. It constitutes a wide range of opportunities that have boosted the development of tourist activity through its many different offerings, which have caused a substantial increase in its visitation. One of the components being underutilized is the heritage associated with the dark, especially regarding its configuration as an effective part of the tourist offer.

    From the review of the scientific literature and the consultation and analysis from several sources, this text aims to emphasize the close relationship between heritage, city and tourism and the role of itineraries in their materialization and valorization. A specific attention is paid to the dark tourism segment with a reflection about the concept, the spectrum of supply and the motivational particularity of demand. It demonstrates the existence of the dark heritage present in the city of Porto, as well as providing another look at certain heritage elements, highlighting its dark side that is unknown to most of the general public. The final purpose of this work consists in creating an itinerary based on this heritage and in the “stories” associated with it, as a contribution to the valorization of a well-known heritage, but from a different perspective.
