  • Natural gas hydrates prospecting and evaluation involves the management of a great volume of information and costly calculations on digital terrain models, vectorial maps, and tabular data. Atthe Gulf of Cadiz, we have designed a Geographical Information System (GIS) to manage diverse oceanographic information, and automate all work processes and calculations to model the baseof the gas Hydrate Stability Zone (HSZ). This has a direct application in prospecting and evaluation of sea-floor natural gas hydrate reserves, geological hazard areas, and greenhouse gases emanationto atmosphere. On the other hand, HSZ modelling allows us to get the same results calculated onfuture or past simulated P-T environment conditions.
