    En este trabajo se estudia la comunidad minera de los barrios de Labarrieta de Arriba y de Abajo, El Sel y Alén (Parroquia de Santa Cruz de Labarrieta), municipio de Sopuerta, Bizkaia, durante el período 1900-1930. Se incluyen análisis sobre la producción, la explotación, el hábitat. la demografía y la sociedad de la época. Hasta fines del siglo XIX el área estuvo desigualmente habitada. A partir de ese momento la explotación del hierro condicionó tanto la prosperidad como la decadencia de dichos núcleos y fueron los movimientos migratorios (inmigración y emigración) los que determinaron la evolución demográfica de la zona. El auge minero aquí fue posterior al del resto de Bizkaia y el destino de la producción era principalmente la exportación a Inglaterra. El destajo fue el sistema de trabajo empleado en la explotación. El artículo también estudia la infraestructura desarrollada en el lugar para hacerlo habitable. El asociacionismo y los conflictos socio-económicos del momento completan este análisis.

    In this article the Labarrieta de Arriba, de Abajo, El Sel and Alén mining communities (Santa Cruz de Labarrieta Parish), in Sopuerta, Bizkaia (Basque Country) are studied. Until the end of the nineteenth century the area was partly uninhabited. From that period of time on, the iron mining working conditioned the welfare as well as the decline of such nuclei. Analises on the production, the mining work, the habitat, the demography and the society of the period are included. The migratory moves (immigration and emigration) determined the demographic evolution of the area. The mining top was here ulterior to the rest of Bizkaia and the destiny of the production was the export to England. The piece-work was the working system used at the mine. The article also studies the infrastructure developed at the area to make it inhabitable. The workers' unions and that moment's social and economic conflicts fulfill this analysis.

    Sopuerta (Bizkaia) udaleko Olabarrieta Goikoa, Olabarrieta Behekoa, el Sel eta Alén (Santa Cruz de Olabarrietako parrokia) auzoetako meatzal elkartea aztertzen da lan honetan, 1900etik 1930era bitartean.
