  El cambio climático global afecta cada vez más a la producción agrícola y ganadera con un efecto ne-gativo abrumador en la salud y el bienestar del ganado. El sector ganadero tiene la urgencia de ser máseficiente y sostenible y cumplir con estándares más altos de bienestar animal. Los efectos negativos delcambio climático sobre la salud y el bienestar de los animales son la consecuencia de los cambios com-binados de la temperatura atmosférica, precipitaciones, y la frecuencia y magnitud de los fenómenos me-teorológicos extremos que pueden ser tanto directos como indirectos. Las prácticas agroganaderas de-ben considerar la necesidad de adaptación continua (resiliencia) a un entorno en constante cambio queofrezca soluciones para amortiguar los eventos extremos climáticos, la disponibilidad cambiante de nu-trientes, la disponibilidad estacional de forraje, la epidemiología de las enfermedades, y otras tensionesque se sumarán a un entorno de condiciones heterogéneas. Esta revisión pretende documentar el co-nocimiento científico más actualizado sobre el impacto del cambio climático en la salud y el bienestaranimal, las estrategias de adaptación de los sistemas ganaderos que pueden implementarse para redu-cir este impacto, así como identificar las oportunidades para investigar nuevas estrategias de adaptación

  Global climate change increasingly affects agricultural and livestock production with an overwhelminglynegative effect on the health and wellbeing of livestock. The livestock sector must urgently seek for moreefficient and sustainable productivity and meet higher standards of animal welfare. The negative ef-fects of climate change on animal health and welfare are the consequence of the combined changesin atmospheric temperature, rainfall, and frequency and magnitude of extreme weather events that canbe both direct and indirect. Agro-livestock sector practices should consider the need for continuous adap-tation (resilience) to an ever-changing environment that offers solutions to buffer climate extremes changing nutrient availability, seasonal forage availability, disease epidemiology, and other challengesthat will be added in an environment of heterogeneous conditions. This review aims to document themost up-to-date scientific knowledge on the impact of climate change on animal health and welfare,the adaptation strategies of livestock systems that can be implemented to reduce this impact, as wellas identifying opportunities to investigate new strategies of adaptation
