Resumen de Audio Systems in a College of Education (Technical)

Dennis Bradbury

  • The Colleges of Education (Technical) have students who are different in age, background and in their future teaching roles from those in other Colleges of Education. These differences are reviewed and related to the use of audio visual media both by lecturers and for self instruction.

The range of applications is wide. The English department, for instance, uses tapes for speech training and therapy, to assist the development of reading skills and to overcome difficulties of oral communication as well as making recordings of plays, readings and poetry. Portable equipment is used to record local material which may be valuable as an historical resource; such recordings sometimes precede the creation of television programs. Other departments, nursing, engineering—motor vehicle, electrical and so on, typewriting, languages all record and produce material to suit their own specialisms.
