Resumen de An experimental validation of the edison responsive environment

J.R.W. Hill

  • An experimental study of the effectiveness of the Edison Responsive Environment (” the talking typewriter “), was undertaken at the Army School of Preliminary Education. The men who received tuition there were functionally illiterate adults. The production of programmed material for use in the experiment is described and a full account is given of the experimental design. The gains in reading ability and the post‐course reading ability levels of the students were subjected to analyses of variance. This was done to enable a comparison to be made between groups who had received E.R.E. tuition and groups who had not. At the same time it was possible to compare the results of students who were in different Instructor Sets.
