¿Por qué difundir la cultura de defensa? Una visión desde las ciencias sociales en educación secundaria

    Los adolescentes son sensibles a un mundo que está cambiando muy rápido y, de hecho, pueden además ser críticos sobre él. Las ciencias sociales y, en particular las ramas de geografía e historia, cuya asignatura es estudiada en educación secundaria, son realmente útiles para ayudarles a entender el ambiente y el mundo del que forman parte.

    Ciertamente debido a esto, los profesores debemos enseñar a nuestros alumnos teorías sobre la paz, el imperio de la ley o los derechos humanos, pero también nosotros deberíamos mostrarles cómo nuestros antepasados tuvieron que adaptarse al medio físico, convivieron con otros pueblos y, además, crearon su propia cultura la cual hoy tiene problemas y amenazas. Por esta razón, la asignatura de Geografía e Historia es la clave para difundir la cultura de defensa.

    Teenagers are sensitive with a world which is changing so quickly and indeed, they must be usually critical about it as well. Social Science and some brunch of theme like Geography and History, whose subject is taught in Secondary School, are useful in order to help them to understand their environment and the world where they take part daily.

    Certainly, because of this, teachers must teach our students theories about the peace, the rule of law and the Human Rights but also, we ought to show them who our ancestors had to adapted to the physical conditions, they lived together with other people and they created a specific culture which has risks and threats today. For this reason, History and Geography subject is the key element in order to spread the Culture of Defence.
