Resumen de Plan de cuidados estandarizado en cirugía bariátrica

  La obesidad es el trastorno nutricional más frecuente en los países desarrollados y constituye un grave problema social, económico y médico. Hablamos de obesidad mórbida cuando el índice de masa corporal es superior a 40 kg/m2 o el paciente tiene 45 kilos de sobrepeso por encima de su peso ideal.

  La demanda quirúrgica para esta patología, ha aumentado considerablemente en los últimos años ya que la mayoría de estos pacientes no son capaces de lograr una pérdida ponderal mantenida siguiendo tratamiento psicológico, dietético o farmacológico. La cirugía bariátrica ya forma parte de los procedimientos quirúrgicos programados de algunos hospitales del Sistema Nacional de Salud. A continuación presentamos un plan de cuidados estandarizado para los pacientes sometidos a esta cirugía.

  The obesity is the more frequent nutritional disorder in the developed countries and constitutes a serious social, economic and medical problem (1). In Morbid Obesity, the body mass index is up to 40, or the patient has 45 kg. of overweight over his ideal body weight. These patients have got a high vital risk since the severe obesity is associated to cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, osteoarticular, digestive pathologies, and even the increase of some kind of tumors.

  The demand of surgery has increased considerably in the last years since most of these patients are not able to obtain a pondered loss maintained following psychological, dietetic or pharmacologic treatment. The bariatric surgery of the morbid obesity is already part of the programmed surgical procedures in some hospitals of the National Health System. In this article we present a plan of care for the bariatric patient.
