Valoración física, funcional y audiológica del anciano para proceder a la adaptación protésica

    En el anciano, concurren dos situaciones una, su necesidad de oír ante el aislamiento social que le produce la sordera y otra, la decepción que le provocan, los resultados negativos obtenidos en la adaptación protésica que no alcanzan los objetivos previstos por él, lo que le obliga a no utilizar la prótesis. Este trabajo pretende en primer lugar, que la coincidencia de estas dos situaciones no se produzca, y en segundo lugar concienciar a los audioprotesistas de que la adaptación protésica es mucho más que una simple transacción comercial, que el audioprotesista esta tratando mas a un paciente que a un cliente y que su labor profesional debe estar enfocada a solucionar protésicamente una patología auditiva basándose en criterios objetivos y científicos. Para ello hemos protocolizado la recopilación de datos para facilitar al audioprotesista, su estudio y toma de decisiones. Esto es lo que nos permite conocer al anciano, no solo en cuanto a su patología auditiva, sino también en cuanto a sus necesidades de convivencia y grado de bienestar deseable, lo que a su vez nos permite actuar correctamente en la elección de la prótesis y del oído a aparellar. Los resultados siempre serán agradables, tanto si no se le realiza una adaptación, ya que estamos en condiciones de explicarle las causas y su porque, lo que satisface al anciano que no se siente engañado, como si se le realiza la adaptación ya que ve cumplidos sus objetivos de forma gratificante.

    In the elderly, there are two situations: one, their need to listen to the social isolation caused by deafness and the other, the disappointment they cause, the negative results obtained in the prosthetic adaptation that do not reach the objectives set by them, which forces you not to use the prosthesis. This work intends, firstly, that the coincidence of these two situations does not occur, and secondly, to make hearing care professionals aware that prosthetic adaptation is much more than a simple commercial transaction, that the hearing care professional is treating a patient more than to a client and that their professional work should be focused on prosthetically solving an auditory pathology based on objective and scientific criteria. For this, we have protocolized the data collection to facilitate the hearing care professional, its study and decision making. This is what allows us to know the elderly, not only in terms of their auditory pathology, but also in terms of their coexistence needs and desirable degree of well-being, which in turn allows us to act correctly in the choice of prosthesis and of the ear to appear. The results will always be pleasant, whether or not an adaptation is made, since we are in a position to explain the causes and their why, which satisfies the elderly who does not feel cheated, as if the adaptation is carried out since they see compliments your goals in a rewarding way.
