El artículo versa sobre la alfabetización informacional y los fundamentos teóricos-experienciales de la corriente emergente conocida como alfabetización informacional crítica. Se describen algunos aspectos resaltantes alrededor del surgimiento y evolución del alfabetismo en el siglo XX, la aparición del constructo alfabetización informacional y los llamados nuevos alfabetismos. Posteriormente, se describen algunas experiencias pedagógicas en alfabetización informacional crítica implementadas en el contexto norteamericano

The article deals with information literacy and the theoretical-experiential foundations of the alternative current known as critical information literacy.
Some salient aspects around the emergence and evolution of literacy in the 20th century, the emergence of the informational literacy construct and the so-called new literacies are described. Subsequently, some pedagogical experiences in critical information literacy implemented in the North American context are described
