La construcción imaginaria de la inmunidad (Covid-19, biopolítica y anomia social)

    Hasta el momento, cuando estas líneas se escriben, ya se han contagiado en el mundo más de treinta millones de personas y han fallecido un poco más de un millón, por los efectos del Covid-19, la enfermedad que ha desmontado los andamiajes de la realidad y de la normalidad a la que, hasta apenas hace un año, se estaba acostumbrado. No es exagerado decir que si bien la humanidad se ha enfrentado con muchas pestes a lo largo de su historia, ésta tiene dos cualidades únicas: primero, ha surgido en el tiempo donde los medios de comunicación logran el efecto de instantaneidad, haciendo que las noticias circulen en una velocidad vertiginosa y avasalladora —lo cual nos coloca frente al espasmo de su visibilización—; y segundo, ha logrado tambalear los cimientos del orden geopolítico al desencajar no sólo los centros hegemónicos del poder —que incluyen sus crisis financieras-militares-políticas y el reacomodo geoestratégico que ello implica—sino, también, el de su más importante discurso de autolegitimación: a saber, no la promesa de la libertad, sino el de la inmunidad. En el presente ensayo se establecen algunas líneas reflexivas en torno al problema de la construcción biopolítica de la inmunidad en tiempos donde la crisis sanitaria mundial atraviesa el campo minado de nuestras representaciones del orden social.

    At this moment, while these lines are written, more than thirty million people have been infected all over the world and over a million have died due to the effects of Covid-19, the virus that causes this disease has dismantled the scaffolding of the reality and the normality to which, until just a year ago, the world was used to. It is not an exaggeration to say that even though humankind has faced many plagues throughout history, the current pandemic has two unique features: first, it has arisen in the time where the media have an instant effect, making the news circulate at a dizzying and overwhelming speed —which puts us in front of the spasm of their visibility—; secondly, it has managed to shake the foundations of the geopolitical order by dislodging not only the hegemonic centers of power - which include its financial-military-political crises and the geostrategic rearrangement that this implies - but also its most important speech of self-legitimation : not the one promise of freedom, but rather the one of immunity. In this essay, some reflective lines are established around the problem of the biopolitical construction of immunity in times when the health crisis crosses the minefield of our representations of the social order.
