    Un escenario es una respuesta bien trabajada a la pregunta: ¿qué puede suceder? O ¿qué pasaría si…? Por lo tanto, difiere de un pronóstico o una visión, ya que ambos tienden a ocultar los riesgos. El escenario, en cambio, hace posible la gestión de riesgos, sobre todo con apoyo de los indicadores. Con la elaboración de escenarios buscamos anticipar lo que puede ocurrir en el futuro y, con los indicadores, monitorizamos la evolución de la situación. Esto nos permite diseñar la respuesta más indicada ante la activación de los indicadores correspondientes, agiliza la toma de decisiones, facilita la reconfiguración de los recursos de manera más rápida y ayuda en la protección contra las amenazas y, si procede, el aprovechamiento de las oportunidades que pudieran surgir.

    A scenario is a well-crafted answer to the question: what can happen? Or what if …? Therefore, it differs from a forecast or a vision, as both tend to hide risks. The scenario, on the other hand, makes risk management possible, especially with the support of indicators. With the elaboration of scenarios, we seek to anticipate what may happen in the future and, with the indicators, we monitor the evolution of the situation. This allows us to design the most appropriate response to the activation of the corresponding indicators, speeds up decision-making, facilitates the reconfiguration of resources more quickly and helps in protecting against threats and, if applicable, the taking advantage of opportunities that may arise.
