Identificación de herbertsmithita en el Barranco Celejo, Níjar, Almería, España

    En este artículo se describe el hallazgo e identificación de herbertsmithita en el Barranco Celejo (Níjar, Almería). El análisis con espectroscopia Raman, LIBS y SEM-EDS ha revelado que el mineral recogido es miembro del grupo de la atacamita y que el contenido relativo de Cu y Zn se encuentra más o menos en mitad del rango de valores que definen la herbertsmithita. Parece que esta es la primera vez que se encuentra este mineral en España.

    In this article we describe the finding and identification of herbertsmithite in Barranco Celejo (Níjar, Almería).

    The analysis with spectroscopic Raman, LIBS and SEMEDS has revealed that the mineral collected is a member of the atacamite group and that the relative content of Cu and Zn is more or less at half the range of values which define herbertsmithite. It seems that this is the first time that this mineral has been found in Spain.
