  • Resumen
    • The history of the construction of the Theatine church of Sainte-Anne-la-Royale is one of the most controversial themes of investigation in the architectural panorama of mid-seventeenth-century Paris. The unfortunate epilogue of the construction enterprise was due to the lack of funds and scattered fragments only, incorporated into the residential building, remain of the monumental project by Guarino Guarini. This contribution aims to deepen the investigation of the Modenese architect’s project through the analysis of an unpublished technical expertise of the piece of the church built before the stop of the works and of a comparison with the iconographic repertoire of the church. Drawn up in 1668 by jurès du roi Siméon Lambert and Alexandre Delespine, the document accurately portrays the state of the building, unfinished and unaltered since the architect’s departure for Turin in the autumn of 1666. The research on the Theatine church, afflicted by the complete dispersion of the documentation relating to the construction site, was thus enriched with relevant information on the project, absent in the engravings of Guarini’s treatise Civil Architecture.
