Resumen de Un disegno di Paolo Labisi per palazzo Gargallo al Carmine in Siracusa (1762)

Federico Fazio

  • The study focuses on a drawing kept in Zelantea Library of Acireale (Catania) made in 1762 by the architect Paolo Labisi from Noto. It represents a reconfiguration project of the ground floor of the Baron Giuseppe Gargallo’s noble residence in Syracuse. The drawing constitutes the only graphics document that describes, with the corresponding legend, the spatial distribution of the eighteenth-century building before the modifications and extensions in the twentieth century. The study will examine the project of the house, describing also the Baron Gargallo’s personality, the relationships between the Gargallo’s and Paolo Labisi and some aspects of the professional activity of the architect.
