  • The rapid transformation occurred in the society have determined radical development even in the religious practices, in particular pilgrimage. Which is defined as a travel to the Holy but more specifically as an inner journey to the most interior religious feeling. Now this trip assume new forms and typologies coming nearer to the characteristic of the modern tourism, even keeping its peculiar characteristics which will be the object of this paper. This work aims at tracing the main typologies of travel with religious purpose with the final aim of define, thought an empiric methodology, the flux touching the SS. Medici Sanctuary, in the neighbourhood of the Oria Town, in Brindisi district. The study employs a mixed methodological approach that includes partecipant – observation, archival documents and structured interviews, as well as empirical observation concerning the material landscape and the observed practices
