Resumen de La defensa del limes germano y el campamento romano de Mogontiacum

En este estudio trataré de mostrar cómo se defendían las fronteras por medio de una serie de acuartelamientos, con preferencia y concretamente referido al campamento de Mogontiacum (Maguncia, Alemania), donde se acuarteló la Legio XIIII en numerosas ocasiones junto con otras legiones. Cómo se creó una línea fronteriza sólida que estuvo vigente hasta la entrada de las tropas bárbaras en el s. III-V d.C. lo que hace de esta fortaleza un lugar estratégico para defender el Imperio romano. Aunque para ello, hubo que contar con otras fortalezas y unidades paralelas para poder crear una contención fuerte contra el enemigo, como el campamento de Carnuntum en Austria, Argentorate en Estrasburgo, y toda la serie de fuertes a lo largo del Rin y Danubio así como la gran masa de bosque germano. Aunque nos centraremos en el de Mogontiacum por su gran proximidad a la frontera, por ser zona estratégica y relevante desde mediados del s. I d.C. hasta mediados o finales del s. IV d.C. Época ésta que fue de gran importancia para la defensa del Imperio

In this study I will try to show how borders were defended by means of a series of quartering, with preference and concretely referred to the camp of Mogontiacum (Mainz, Germany), where the Legio XIIII was quartered on numerous occasions along with other legions. How a solid border line was created that was in force until the entry of the barbarian troops in the s. III-V d.C. what makes this fortress a strategic place to defend the Roman Empire. Although for this, other fortresses and parallel units had to be built in order to create a strong containment against the enemy, such as the Carnuntum camp in Austria, Argentorate in Strasbourg, and the whole series of forts along the Rhine and Danube as well as the great mass of Germanic forest. Although we will focus on the Mogontiacum because of its close proximity to the border, for being strategic and relevant area since the mid-s. I d.C. until the mid or late s. IV d.C. This was a time of great importance for the defense of the Empire
