Resumen de El reto del humanismo cristiano en la universidad

En la universidad actual persiste una notable fragmentación de los saberes, de modo contrario a la idea original de universidad. Por otra parte, predominan ideologías de corte positivista, pragmatista y utilitarista que proponen una visión reduccionista de lo humano. Ello plantea el reto de incorporar a la universidad una visión integral del hombre tal como la presenta el humanismo cristiano, que considera lo humano en todas sus dimensiones, incluyendo su dimensión transcendente y las realidades que se descubren a la luz de la fe. Aquí se analizan algunos rasgos esenciales del humanismo cristiano, con los valores que comporta, y la aportación del humanismo cristiano a la institución y el quehacer universitario. Finalmente, se proponen algunas recomendaciones para la implementación del humanismo cristiano en la universidad.

Currently, knowledge fragmentation persists at the University, contrary to the foundational idea of a comprehensive vision of the world. In addition, positivist, pragmatic and utilitarian ideologies are still mainstreams, with the subsequent reductionist view of the human. Here we posit the challenge of incorporating into the university an integral vision of the human being as presented by Christian humanism, which considers the human in all its dimensions, including the transcendent dimension and the realities discovered in the light of faith. Some essential features and values of Christian humanism are analyzed as well as the contribution of Christian humanism to the University as institution and in university work. Finally, we suggest some recommendations for the implementation of Christian humanism in the university.
