  • Resumen
    • The purpose of this article was to assess the major factors that affect conformance behavior of ecotour operators with industry guidelines. Based on a sample of 326 ecotour operators, the study sought to obtain measures that would best discriminate between low and high compliers. The analysis of the data revealed that conformance might be a function of both behavioral intentions (attitudes) and self-reported behavior. Factors such as the type of sanctions, type of the affiliation with the business, perceived economic benefits, belief in common good, familiarity with TES guidelines, and intrinsic values such as personal morality contributed significantly to the discriminating power of various measures of conformance behavior. Some policy strategies are recommended as a way of increasing conformance behavior
